Where To Stay in Perth: Home Away From Home

When planning my trip to Perth, finding an affordable place to stay was high on my priority list—just like it is for any search I embark on, really. Let's face it, budgeting is a major key to most of my travels. But here's the catch: Australia tends to be on the pricier side when it comes to accommodations. So, I had to factor that in while searching for my first-ever Aussie rental. What I really wanted was a whole house or apartment smack in the center of Perth. So, naturally, I filtered through a few options and shared them with my friends.

And guess what? We landed on this beautiful apartment that’s perfect for the four of us.

Perth Home Away From Home

This particular Airbnb listing ticked all the boxes I had in mind and boasted a load of glowing reviews. And let me tell you, reviews are like my priority when it comes to picking an Airbnb spot. So, armed with that confidence and the convenience of an instant booking option, I simply punched in my preferred dates, number of guests, and made the payment. Voilà, it was a done deal.

The apartment itself exuded such a warm and inviting vibe. From the moment we made the booking, to the sweet note that our host leaves us and right until check out, our hosts really made our stay feel extra special. Honestly, if I ever find myself heading back to Perth, I wouldn’t mind booking again.

The house included a garage for tenants to park their rental cars while in Perth. Unfortunately, none of us had a driver's license at the time, so renting a car wasn't an option. Thankfully, there are reliable private charters available that cater to personal groups or families, making it easy to get around Perth and its surrounding areas without the need for a rental car. This would be a great option to help you explore Perth and beyond with ease. If you’re planning a trip and want to avoid the hassle of driving, do consider!

The House

Our apartment is nestled away from the main house, granting us the luxury of a private entrance via the garage. You know what that means? We had the freedom to come and go as we pleased, without disturbing anyone or setting foot inside the main house!

Oh, and let's not forget the perks that came with it. We had our very own kitchen, complete with a delightful little balcony at the back. It was the ideal spot for sipping our morning coffee or enjoying a quiet evening breeze.

We were given the privacy we craved throughout our stay. The only time we really crossed paths with the main house was when it was time to bid farewell and dispose of our garbage on the last day. Other than that, we had our own little bubble, undisturbed and just the way we liked it.

The Space Itself

The apartment was reasonably priced, especially when you consider the typically higher cost of Australian properties. Inside, the whole house was carpeted, offering a warm and comfortable atmosphere. With one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, we had more than enough space to unwind and relax. And let me tell you, those bed warmers were an absolute lifesaver during our winter visit. Pure bliss!

Isn't this place just the definition of cozy? Let me tell you, my week in Perth was absolutely delightful, and this lovely accommodation was like the cherry on top of my chocolate sundae. It truly made my trip extra special.

The Neighborhood

Located in the charming neighborhood of Shenton Park, our apartment offers a prime location just a few minutes' stroll from the train station. Let me tell you, that train station became our go-to launchpad for all our daily escapades. Talk about convenience!

This fantastic location made Shenton Park our ideal base camp for our daily adventures. We could easily hop on the train, explore our chosen destinations, and return home hassle-free at the end of the day. Since it’s situated right in the heart of the Fremantle line, this neighborhood acts as a central hub connecting Perth City and Fremantle.

And here's the cherry on top: Shenton Park Shopping Center, a mere ten-minute jaunt from our doorstep, houses an absolute gem of an eatery called Shenton Kebabs. Seriously, you have to try their mouthwatering delights. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and let's not forget about Jualbup Lake, which is practically around the corner. It's a tranquil spot perfect for a leisurely stroll or a moment of peaceful contemplation.

Nestled in a charming suburban area, our Airbnb was surrounded by a cozy atmosphere that added an extra layer of tranquility to our stay. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

One of the highlights was discovering Jualbup Lake, just a short walk away from our doorstep. This serene oasis was a hidden gem, offering a picturesque setting for peaceful walks and moments of reflection. It was such a treat to have this natural beauty within easy reach, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the soothing ambiance of the area.

Why we chose to book an Airbnb:

Now, here's the thing about Airbnb: It's important to remember that when you book, you're actually stepping into someone's home. It's not a hotel experience, and treating it with respect is key. As much as possible, try to leave the place in the same condition you found it when you first arrived. It's all about being a considerate guest and honoring the trust placed in you as a renter.

I know many of my friends who are still on the fence about trying Airbnb as an accommodation option. Trust me, I had my fair share of skepticism and contemplation at first, especially after reading those horror stories online. But you know what? Curiosity got the best of me, and I embarked on a journey of research and exploration. And you know what? My first Airbnb booking in Perth completely shattered my doubts.

All that time spent planning and researching truly paid off. The experience was nothing short of fantastic, and Airbnb now has my enthusiastic stamp of approval. It opened up a whole new world of travel possibilities, providing unique and personalized stays that go beyond the cookie-cutter hotel experience.

So, for those who are still undecided, I encourage you to take a leap of faith, just as I did. Do your research, read reviews, and make an informed decision. You might just find that Airbnb adds an extra layer of charm and authenticity to your travels.
